To respond (quite late mind you)...Hello Anonymous!

To respond (quite late mind you) to your question, I am not splitting the IO myself it is actually XtraBackup itself that does this.

XtraBackup Manager itself takes this fact into account so when you set the "throttle" parameter in XtraBackup Manager to say "only use 5MB/s", it knows how to adjust the setting it gives to the xtrabackup binary itself to get a net result of using no more than 5MB/s of IO as you requested.

So in actual fact, it sounds like XtraBackup Manager is doing exactly what you want in that when you say "Throttle to X MB/sec" then the total IO used by the backup would be more more than the "X MB/sec" you requested.Lachlan Mulcahyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06776705172583578711noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8394358003318535041.post-81441109035044085102011-12-30T09:39:25.842-08:002011-12-30T09:39:25.842-08:00Hey there,
I dont understand why you splitting log...Hey there,
I dont understand why you splitting log IO and data IO in two different parts. If im adjustung the trottle value, im doing this due to the fact i want to limit the load of the database system or the nic to my backup system. So in my point of view if im adjust the setting in xtrabackup-manager i assume this is the full bandwidth the backup is going to use - even its not the "data"-bandwith.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
